Coil Patient Profile

Patients with advanced emphysema, who complain of increasing breathlessness (dyspnoea) despite smoking cessation, pharmacological therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation and oxygen supplementation may be suitable for treatment with endobronchial Coils. Some preliminary examinations are performed by your medical pulmonologist before you are referred to an experienced treatment centre. These include lung function tests and a CT (Computed Tomography) Scan by a radiologist. Your lung specialist will discuss with you if you are a suitable patient for treatment with Coils. The treatment centre will make the final decision if Coil treatment is right for you, based on your individual medical history and all test results.
