About Bead Block®

Bead Block® is an embolic material composed of tiny particles or beads that is injected into selected vessels to cut off the blood supply to a tumuor or malformation, causing it to shrink over time. Depending on the product specifications, the size of each bead is between 100-1200 micron in diameter (1000 micron = 1mm.)  In a typical Bead Block® treatment, anywhere from 2500 – 200,000 beads can be used. This type of treatment is known as embolisation. This is a minimally invasive (non-surgical) procedure performed normally by an interventional radiologist.
Bead Block® is a bland embolic device meaning that it works through cutting off the blood supply to a tumour causing it to shrink.
